Expansion and Management of NPS Units

The NPS has expanded beyond its original mission, with the number of units growing too large and disparate to manage efficiently. This expansion has led to significant management challenges and a dilution of resources. The NPS should reduce the total number of parks it manages, focusing on those that meet its original mission and are nationally significant. Many units that do not meet these criteria should be transferred to non-profits and conservancy groups. This would allow the NPS to allocate resources more effectively and improve management and accountability.
